Position Summary
This position is primarily responsible is evaluating and performing service and/or repair jobs on engines, generators. This role is an entry-level technician developing technical skills and performing tasks under close guidance.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs routine preventive maintenance services on Cat equipment using the checklist (fluids, filters, grease, etc.).
- Conduct basic inspections (leaks, belts, hoses, tracks/tires, lights, etc.)
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently; work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts.
- Maintain customer satisfaction, ensuring customer needs and deadlines are met.
- Adheres to all safety rules, contamination regulations, and maintains quality housekeeping in work area.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No formal responsibility for supervising others
Position Requirements
Required:
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
- 1 year or more of mechanical experience with diesel and gas engines/generators
- Valid Driver’s License
- Current DOT physical
Preferred:
- 2 years or more experience with Caterpillar equipment
- Diesel Technology degree or education from Technical School

- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, diesel engines, and electrical systems
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization
- Strong computer skills experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn CAT/MacAllister/Michigan Cat systems
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
Other Requirements of Position
- Works under close supervision/direction. Employee may act independently for reoccurring assignments, but supervision is readily available for unfamiliar situations or problems.
- Major responsibilities do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Detailed instructions or established procedures are usually available as guidelines for most aspects of the job.
- If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify the effort and can impact the company financially
- Frequently communicates with management, coworkers, and vendors
- Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents
