Groundskeeper (PRN)

Description

A. POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Facility Support Supervisor & Facility Support Assistant Supervisor, the Groundskeeper will provide landscaping and snow removal for all FCCH sites as needed.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for upkeep of the property grounds which includes cleaning and the removal of trash, weeds, debris and pet

  droppings from outdoor areas.

· Detailing the properties which could include raking, sweeping, shoveling, application of pesticides insecticides or herbicides, and 

  the use of a blower when necessary.

· Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering and securing outdoor items with tarps, tie-

  down’s, etc.

· Maintaining sidewalks by removing sand, rocks, snow, and ice.

· Use power tools and hand tools to trim, mow, and edge lawns, shrubs, trees, and any other outdoor plants.

· Reporting unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property or loitering.

· Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.

· Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or another emergency.

· Check and replace exterior lighting as needed.

· Reporting and repairing of any damaged outdoor windows, screens, fencing, walls, lighting, etc.

· Use appropriate safety equipment such as (goggles, masks and gloves, etc.) when tasks dictate.

· May record data, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

C. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· High School graduate or GED certificate.

· Three months experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities.

E. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

· Ability to understand verbal instructions.

· Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

· Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

· Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

· Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

· Self-starter attitude, reliability, discretion and ability to always maintain a professional attitude and appearance.

· Ability to speak English and Spanish is preferred.

G. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS/WORKING CONDITIONS

A person in this position has sufficient time to complete most tasks although under pressure depending on patient and organization demands. There are frequent opportunities to relax from any physical exertion or to change position in work activities.

1. Physical Effort and Dexterity: Good dexterity to operate groundskeeping equipment. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 90%) of a job.

2. Machines, Tools, Equipment required to be operated: Capable of using power equipment.

3. Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking: Must be able to read and write. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.

4. Environment/Working Conditions: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Work regularly scheduled Monday-Friday, although weekends may be required to meet deadlines.
