The Operations Supervisor will direct and coordinate the operational activities of the unit  This position will ensure the safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant facilities to satisfy customer requirements, plant performance measures, regulatory agency requirements and community obligations.  The incumbent will provide positive leadership by being a role model, setting expectations and maintaining accountability around those expectations, and sponsoring development opportunities and providing timely performance feedback through the effective use of dialog and coaching.

A Day in the Life

 Manage production on a daily basis.
• Ensure the availability of all necessary resources (people, raw material, equipment, tools, etc.) in order to guarantee production.
• Monitor the production performance indicators and production scheduling, and take necessary operational decisions in case of deviations.
• Anticipate potential problems to avoid production downtime.
• Ensure the accuracy of daily production reporting (performance versus forecasts, reasons for deviations, actions taken, etc.).      
• Provide operating guidelines which are consistent with other shifts within the unit.
• Develops hourly operations personnel through coaching, feedback, and unit assignments.
• Provide the training resources for all personnel to develop their skills.
• Provides recognition and feedback to technicians while acting as a coach and counselor.
• Ensures compliance with Company Operational Excellence Standards and site procedures that support those standards.
• Drives unit performance to the business plan through sound operating practices.
• Coordinate activities with Maintenance in order to ensure the effectiveness of production and the equipment.
• Actively participate in troubleshooting and resolving with mechanical and process issues.
• Propose procedures in order to cope with the production of non-conforming products.

You Bring This Value

At least 5 years’ experience in engineering, plant operations, or technical field. 
• Demonstrated strong technical skills.
• Strong communication skills-both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others with strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Demonstrated strong independent decision making skills
• Willing and able to work 12-hour, 7-day rotating shifts, weekends and holidays when covering vacancies with short notice
• Must be able to understand and adhere to strict environmental, health, safety, security and quality policies
• Willing and able to work outside, year round under various weather conditions
• Must have strong computer skills including SAP, Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
• Familiarity with DCS operating systems
• Supervisory step up experience preferred.
Actively assess employee skills and provide training and coaching as needed.
• Supervise employees in a bias free, non-discriminatory manner in employee hiring, promotions, performance improvement, and other employee related practices and decisions.
• Be an effective communicator with the shift technicians, as well as between shift, day staff, and unit management.
• Administer company policies and procedures.
