We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) to join a dynamic, cross-functional team working to develop an industry-leading energy trading platform.
Energy trading is a fast paced, dynamic environment and, as the largest producer of sustainable energy in Switzerland, Axpo is uniquely positioned in the market.
As such, the successful candidate will have both an engineering and QA mindset and will be able to work well at all stages of the software testing life cycle. In addition, they will be able to analyse complex distributed systems and plan, execute and report on testing activities undertaken.
The majority of their experience will be from working in agile environments where software engineers, testers, product managers and DevOps work closely together. They will be accustomed to working independently and communicating complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences across the organisation.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain manual and automated test suites, focusing on UI testing.
- Own and evolve the test strategy as the application grows and matures.
- Manage the defect management process, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Test edge cases with a strong focus on understanding customer needs.
- Ensure all releases meet high-quality standards before deployment.
- Collaborate with international teams in an agile setup, occasionally travelling across Europe for planning workshops.
What you bring & who you are:
- Proven track record (4+ years) in delivering manual and automated test frameworks for complex software.
- Proficient in Playwright using TypeScript (Node.js) or similar UI testing frameworks.
- Expertise with Git, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with Azure Cloud and end-to-end functional and non-functional testing.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with interoperability frameworks (e.g., interop.io), energy sector expertise, or testing trading applications.
About the team:
Be part of a collaborative and agile team where every member contributes to impactful projects and drives innovation in energy trading. You'll engage with diverse, international colleagues and benefit from opportunities to grow and make a difference in the energy industry.
