About the role

This position will perform complex professional accounting and auditing work to ensure accurate payment, receipt, and recording of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and HUD related transactions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly HCV journal entries, reconcile and balance, and related documentation.
  • Maintains HCV Program general ledger accounts and activity reports on various HUD transactions (payments, receipts, admin fees earned, and deferred items).
  • Reconciles and analyzes all HCV/Sec 8 funding sources related General Ledger accounts monthly.  Prepares monthly reconciliations of various accounts as required. Analyze bank reconciliation accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and ensure HAP transactions are properly recorded in Yardi and Lawson including ensuring preparation is in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Prepare and generate monthly interface and reports; resolves any discrepancies and corrects interface errors, per establish procedures.
  • Review HUD Notices and letters relating to the HCV Program to ensure CHA complies and transactions are properly recorded.
  • Analyze and interpret a variety of cost and charges relating to the HCV Program to ensure compliance with the Authority's accounting procedures.
  • Assists in reviewing of HCV related accounts and monthly reports for assurance of adequate documentation and mathematical accuracy.
  • Respond to various inquiries from external contacts (other internal departments, auditors, HUD, etc.) to provide necessary information. Prepares audit reports with required documentations for independent audits.
  • Prepares annual budgets, budget revisions and year-end settlement for various HCV Programs in accordance with HUD accounting procedures. 
  • Perform all other related duties and special projects as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a minimum bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; a minimum of five (5) years’ previous work experience in an Accounting or Finance environment or the equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Requires comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices; effective analytical, problem-solving, and proficiency with ERP software system and spreadsheets. It also requires effective analytical and mathematical skills to maintain ledgers, account balances, and other statistical reports and effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external contacts.
