Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for reviewing audits of licensees and registrants under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and the International Registration Plan (IRP), respectively. This involves reviewing and analyzing audit reports, distance and fuel records, working papers and audit file contents to ensure they meet compliance with regulatory requirements. Additional audit responsibilities include detailed review process and coordinating communication, issue assessment notifications to the auditee during various stages of the process. As part of our customer outreach function, this position is a resource to new and existing licensees and registrants regarding proper record keeping techniques and systems and other regulatory issues concerning IFTA and IRP.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Skill in preparing and/or reviewing written reports and communicating the findings.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge in accounting, bookkeeping, and fiscal practices.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data.
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful, approachable and courteous manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
