About the role
The Senior Director of Enterprise IT will report to the Senior Vice President, IT & Cyber Security and will provide technical expertise and senior leadership to manage all aspects of IT and network architecture, engineering, and operations for Motional’s global infrastructure, including networks, multi cloud connectivity, and global corporate networks. This also includes leading operations of the global IT Support Desk.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and managing a team of IT architects, engineers, project managers, and support technicians in a fast-paced, forward-leaning organization
- Managing, engineering, analyzing and implementing all IT infrastructure for optimal productivity, operational costs, ease of use, and working closely with enterprise cybersecurity to secure all data and systems.
- Managing Motional’s global network topology including designing and implementing policies for its Firewall as well as VLANs and subnets as required.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Evaluating new software and hardware creative tools and workflows that can be implemented for the company to remain competitive in the AV sector and increase overall efficiency of the software and hardware engineering processes.
- Leading design and implementation of Remote and Hybrid Solutions for virtual workstations to support secure global engineering.
- Managing Motional’s A/V hardware and software suites (Zoom)
- Establishing best-practice methodologies based on metrics-based KPIs for incident/change/problem management in a global, 24x7, high-availability, mission critical environment
- Ensuring critical IT services such as collaboration tools (Box, Confluence, Jira, Slack), data transfer services, and cloud services (AWS) run at peak performance, with appropriate security patches
- Partnering with business leaders to develop and execute a multi-year plan to establish and maintain an IT infrastructure that can support the aggressive commercial growth and expansion plans, while operating at a high level of efficiency
- Collaborating across Motional to help identify, promote, and share best IT practices, tools, and processes; assessing and developing optimal levels of automation and standardization for applications, infrastructure, tools and operating procedures, while taking full account of differing needs and requirements.
- Mentoring, managing and motivating a high-performing team of managers and engineering professionals and set clear priorities to achieve enterprise goals and KPIs
- Supporting the Senior VP of Cybersecurity and IT with strategic planning, OKR development, and creating dashboards to provide insight across all IT operations
What we’re looking for:
- Strong leadership and management skills, a very proactive and collaborative working style, the ability to navigate ambiguity and be effective in a matrixed organization, a commitment to developing talent in the organization, and strong communication and technical skills
- 7-10 years of IT Leadership experience within a high growth pre-revenue software development company. Experience managing technology, staff, and budgets especially as it relates to managing remote teams across several global times zones
- Proven technical expertise with networks, applications, cloud management, storage, and security
- Proven track record of driving network transformation of Cloud and on-premises network infrastructure
- Strong understanding of budgets and financials and measuring business value with ability to manage projects to budgets
- AWS, Google Cloud, Cisco Routers/Switches, VPN technologies)
- Experience managing broad enterprise Networks (LAN, WAN, Firewalls, etc.) across multiple sites and cloud environments
- Experience working in regulated environments with strict infrastructure change control processes
- Experience building a robust multi-account cloud strategy across numerous stakeholders and diverse deployment stacks
- Expertise in disaster recovery, application resiliency, business continuity, and data integrity
- Experience focusing on standardization, naming conventions, best practices, and monitoring/enforcement
- Experience leading teams with expertise in AWS technologies such as VPC, Route 53 Resolver, Route 53, VGW, IGW, NACL, SG, Transit Gateway
- Experience in managing and developing a close-knit, high-performing team
- Customer service and collaboration skills with a consultative approach
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar related fields or equivalent work experience is required
