Purpose

The Design Programs Coordinator works to support the academic and administrative operations for the Center for Integrated Design (CID), the MA in Design for Health program, and the Graduate MFA program. This role is the operational backbone of these programs, managing course scheduling, enrollment processes, data analysis, and budget oversight to optimize program efficiency. By facilitating smooth coordination between faculty, students, and leadership, the position enhances interdisciplinary collaboration and supports innovative academic experiences within the Department of Design.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Program and Course Coordination: Collaborate with Department of Design leadership, program heads, and faculty to plan and coordinate academic offerings for the Center for Integrated Design (CID), MA in Design for Health, and Master of Fine Arts in Design programs. Support department leadership and program heads in assigning courses to faculty and lecturers, while coordinating with instructors to align with academic and program goals.

  • Operational Coordination: Manage operational and logistical needs, including identifying classroom technology needs for courses and working with external contacts to schedule spaces and transportation for off-campus course offerings. Oversee facilities needs in partnership with the Senior Administrative Associate for the School of Design and Creative Technologies (SDCT), including managing deliveries and addressing maintenance issues. Act as a point of contact for cross-departmental coordination involving shared spaces and resources.

  • Faculty and Student Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to faculty and student workers to ensure smooth program operations and academic success. Key responsibilities include assisting with faculty hiring processes and onboarding; coordinating TA and AI assignments to meet program needs; addressing faculty and student inquiries related to registration, program policies, and course logistics; and managing classroom, technology, and event logistics. Facilitate clear and efficient communication between faculty, staff, and program leadership to resolve operational challenges and ensure alignment with academic goals.

  • Data and Program Budget Management: Organize and maintain data archives on enrollment trends, student demographics, and other key metrics. Analyze and report on data, creating visualizations and presentations to communicate insights that support strategic decision-making and align with program goals. Work with the Department leadership to develop, track, and report on budgets and expenses for Department programs and initiatives.
