Position Overview 

This person is responsible for supporting the Research & Development Engineering teams in the design and development of low-power battery-operated medical electronics. This person must be experienced with testing electronic designs, assembling prototypes, setup & support of development systems, following test procedures, and documenting test results. They must be able to read technical drawings and follow electromechanical assembly procedures. This position requires close cooperation with members of the engineering teams to accomplish project objectives. 

Responsibilities  

  • Executes on the procurement, assembly, test, rework, and troubleshooting of electronic products and systems 

  • Applies basic principles of testing electronic designs and electromechanical systems, including some troubleshooting of technical issues with the support of engineering staff 

  • Assembles and makes basic modifications to embedded electronic systems with SMT devices, following electrical schematics and redlines, utilizing hand tools as necessary 

  • Set up and operate basic test equipment to evaluate the performance of electromechanical assemblies under simulated operating conditions, following detailed procedures, and clearly & concisely reporting on results 

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to provide technical assistance 

  • Records test data in MS Excel or similar for analysis by other team members 

  • Works under regular supervision; follows established directions and uses judgment within defined practices and procedures 

  • Performs other duties as necessary 

 

Required Skills and Competencies 

  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and effective verbal/written communicator 

  • Basic analysis of electronic circuits and electromechanical systems, with support 

  • Ethical, responsible, and data-driven
