We are seeking a Principal Research Engineer to join our organization and help develop novel, AI-driven content creation experiences. Our team currently sits within the Office Product Group (OPG) and is responsible for several generative AI services and product experiences.
As a Principal Research Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing the state-of-the art in generative AI creation tools and workflows. You will have access to world-class, multi-modal, foundational models, and you’ll be able to leverage a wide array of tools and capabilities from our flagship products. In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of research and advanced product development. Our team offers a vibrant environment for cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research. Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel interfaces and workflows to leverage generative AI for business-ready content. Example areas of interest include UX patterns for collaboration between humans and generative AI, workflow and automation design, multimodal generative models
- Design principled evaluation frameworks and benchmarks for measuring reliability, trustworthiness, safety, and efficacy of interaction patterns and models
- Evangelize methods, prototypes, and learnings internally to identify and collaborate on new product opportunities
- Publish research in top AI conferences and contribute research advances to the guidance open-source project
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in relevant field AND 5+ years related research experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
Research Sciences IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
