Medical Secretary - Home Care/Hospice

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Medical Secretary to join our Home Care/Hospice team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.
Position Summary:
The Medical Secretary provides quality secretarial support for designated department, management, and staff. Assists in the completion and maintenance of routine projects and programs. Supports the process of care delivery to Park Nicollet Health Services patients in Community Care.
Responsibilities encompass a diverse range of duties, including but not limited to: managing incoming calls and directing them to clinical staff, facilitating patient registration for Hospice, extending a warm welcome to staff members, as well as handling the faxing of documents and sorting mail.
Calls received are often from patients or family members seeking assistance from our Home Care & Hospice staff. Much of this role is assisting patients/families in connecting with triage nursing staff. Additional tasks include putting together patient admission packets, building lab sample kits, and registering patients with a medical examiner.
Home Care & Hospice are two team consisting of almost 225 staff. We consist of leadership, frontline and office staff, and field staff (nurses, rehab, social work, massage therapists, and home health aides). We travel to our patient’s homes to deliver care. We are highly regulated areas of health care so it takes many people working together to keep our daily business running. We like to have fun, take pride in the work we do, and celebrate our wins. We also take opportunities to learn, evaluate outcomes, and improve the work we do by considering a variety of viewpoints.
Work Schedule: 1-2 weekends per month; Saturday & Sunday; 8:00am to 4:00pm
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in word processing and office procedures.
- Working knowledge of office practices and protocol.
- Must be able to work under pressure, at times, to meet deadlines and last minute assignments.
- Must be detail oriented, well organized, and able to keep confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
- One-year post secondary college preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Previous secretarial experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of medical terminology and Medicare is beneficial.
- Personal computer, fax, photocopier, printers, etc.
