Junior Security Systems Associate

Position Overview:
The Junior Security Systems Associate is responsible for the administration and improvement of the information security program for the company. The purpose of this program includes: to assure that information created, acquired or maintained by the company, and its authorized users, is used in accordance with its intend and purpose; to protect company information and its infrastructure from external or internal threats; and to assure that the company complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy.
Job Responsibilities:
Threat Monitoring and Analysis:
- Monitor security alerts and incidents, analyze potential threats, and provide initial incident response.
- Collaborate with senior team members to investigate and escalate security events as necessary.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation as scheduled, and the ability to perform after-hours support as needed.
Vulnerability Assessment:
- Work with senior team members to prioritize and address identified vulnerabilities.
Security Operations:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitor security infrastructure and assist in the maintenance of security systems.
- Administration of security related systems and technologies including Identity Access Management, Endpoint Protection, Data Loss Prevention, Logging, Auditing, etc.
Incident Response:
- Participate in incident response activities, including detection, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Document and report incidents, ensuring accurate and timely communication to relevant stakeholders.
Security Awareness and Training:
- Collaborate in the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness programs for employees.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, sharing insights with the team.
Compliance and Auditing:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards.
- Participate in internal and external security audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and remediation efforts.
- Prepare regular reports on the state of cybersecurity, including key metrics and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Certifications considered highly desirable:
- CompTIA Security+ (Required within 1 year of employment)
