Director of Field Services

Overview

The Vermont Department Of Corrections is looking for a Field Services Division Director, who will be responsible for strategic planning, coordinating, monitoring, policy development, operational management, and evaluation at a professional level leading and managing the supervision of the state-wide probation and parole field services division. Primary function is the supervision over area district managers, field operations managers, and victim services unit, along with the management and coordination of operational practices and services within the field offices.  

 

Responsible for budget management, resource allocation, local contract management, program enhancement development, equipment purchase, and providing program oversight. Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the Electronic Monitoring program by integrating legislative intent with Department practice, managing vendor contracts, and providing legislative reports.  Duties are performed under the general direction of the departments Chief of Operations, but with opportunity and need for individual judgment and discretion on both a regular and emergency basis. This position deals directly with representatives of the legislature, media, and other public and private organizations in making presentations and representing the positions of the Department of Corrections. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships, and results orientation.

 

Duties are performed primarily in an office setting, but travel to Departmental and public meetings may result in a need for a private means of transportation. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Pressure of deadlines, need for program revisions, interaction with staff who may promote different concepts and objectives, and the need to address the media regarding controversial issues are often aspects of this role.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma AND six (6)years or more experience in human services or criminal justice, INCLUDING two (2) years or more of experience working with corrections administration and/or corrections clients AND two (2) years or more of supervisory or management duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree or higher, preferable in criminal justice or a human services related field.
