Staff Developer Tooling Engineer (Go/Typescript)

As a Developer Tooling Engineer at Netlify, you'll work with a smart and empathetic set of team members who are very motivated to keep learning and continuing to grow each other in a supportive way. You'll be working on our platform's primitives, ranging from infrastructure work, to improving the DX of how customers use the components, and how the frameworks integrate these primitives. Covering Functions, Edge Functions, Builds, Blobs, and several others, this role allows for a great span and impact. You'll be a significant influence on the overall vision and long-term goals of the team and product, and how satisfying and easy the work is for millions of developers around the world

What You’ll Do: 

• Work on several core platform primitives — builds, functions, edge functions, blobs, and other new ones that we haven't announced yet!
• Develop and maintain the infrastructure powering the primitives (mostly Golang and Terraform)
• Work on the Netlify DX layer for these primitives (Typescript, Golang)
• Collaborate with the framework authors and other ecosystem partners on integrating these primitives into the modern frameworks (typescript)
• Join the on-call rotation and help the team pay down technical debt and improve reliability
• Gain a more robust understanding of the needs of the product and become comfortable diagnosing and solving problems
• Have one-on-one's and pairing sessions with some of the people you'll be working closely with and get to know your engineering peers across our product umbrella.
• Extensively collaborate with engineering leadership to level up the team and continually improve the scalability and observability of the platform
• Make a meaningful impact on Netlify's engineering practice and tooling
• Fortify relationships with cross-functional team members as well as broaden your connections across the organization

What You'll Bring: 

• Several years of experience developing production-level Golang and Typescript
• Some familiarity with and willingness to learn more about technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, Deno, and the javascript ecosystem
• Curiosity and openness to learning new technologies and best practices
• Passion for working in a collaborative environment, where you enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise working across distributed locations around the world
• The ability to thrive in an environment where experimentation and failure are celebrated
