Position Summary

Deluxe Spain is looking for an exceptionally creative and technically skilled Senior Sound Designer to join our Creative Sound Team. This role is ideal for a visionary sound artist who excels at crafting immersive and emotionally compelling soundscapes for feature films and TV series.

As a Senior Sound Designer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-end sound effects, atmospheres, and audio textures that enhance storytelling and elevate the production’s impact. You will work closely with directors, editors, and re-recording mixers, shaping the sonic identity of each project with a meticulous ear for detail and a deep understanding of cinematic storytelling.

We are looking for someone with exceptional artistic instincts, a passion for innovation, and extensive experience in immersive formats like Dolby Atmos.

Role and Responsibilities   

Creative Sound Design & Audio Implementation

  • Conceptualize and design original, high-quality sound effects, atmospheres, and audio textures for feature films and TV series.

  • Work closely with directors, editors, and re-recording mixers to develop a unique and compelling sonic identity for each project.

  • Design and implement custom foley and environmental sounds that enhance realism and immersion.

  • Utilize advanced synthesis, layering, and processing techniques to create high-impact and emotionally resonant soundscapes.

Technical Execution & Workflow Management

  • Operate industry-standard DAWs (Pro Tools HDX, Nuendo) and sound design tools to create, edit, and manipulate complex sound elements.

  • Ensure sound design elements are optimized for Dolby Atmos, 5.1/7.1 surround sound, and other immersive formats.

  • Collaborate with the mixing team to ensure seamless integration of designed sound elements into the final mix.

  • Manage and organize large-scale sound libraries, maintaining efficiency and accessibility for production needs.

Research & Innovation

  • Stay at the forefront of sound design trends, techniques, and technologies, bringing fresh ideas and innovation to each project.

  • Explore and implement cutting-edge immersive audio technologies, including AI-assisted sound design tools and advanced convolution reverb techniques.

  • Experiment with field recording, synthesis, and unconventional sound sources to create unique and organic textures.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide and mentor junior sound designers, sharing knowledge and refining best practices.

  • Provide creative and technical input in the development of sound design workflows and pipelines.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Sound Designer in feature films or high-end TV series, as well as:

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative and technical sound design skills.

  • Deep understanding of cinematic storytelling and how sound contributes to narrative impact.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Pro Tools HDX, Nuendo, and industry-standard sound design plugins (Reformer Pro, Soundminer, Altiverb, Envy, GRM Tools).

  • Mastery of Dolby Atmos workflows and immersive sound design principles.

  • Experience with foley recording, field recording, and advanced sample manipulation techniques.

  • Highly creative and detail-oriented, with a deep passion for crafting immersive soundscapes.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to translate creative direction into compelling audio.

  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards.
