Basic purpose of position:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Business Development is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives, securing new business within our Industrial business segment, identifying new market opportunities, developing partnerships, fortifying Customer relationships, and supporting commercial initiatives.
Ways of Working:
The AVP grows business in the Industrial segment by expanding existing customer portfolios and securing net-new business, upholding the ethical practices and Core Principles of the Company. The AVP exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the scope of duties. The AVP collaborates with the team, respecting diversity of thought and approach. The AVP plays an instrumental role in helping the team to meet deadlines and achieve its goals, and fosters a positive working environment.

Responsibilities:
• Support the development and execution of the company's business development strategy and
market expansion plans, including expanding mechanical footprint, establishing transload, and
securing new train operations.
• Lead efforts to acquire new clients and retain key accounts through proactive relationship
management.
• Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances.
• Develop the sales and opportunity pipeline; ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of business
metrics.
• Track and analyze KPIs to assess the effectiveness of business development activities.
• Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and financial modeling to inform business
decisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver competitive, profitable and custom proposals to potential
clients.
• Drive cross-selling initiatives across multiple verticals.
• Work closely with commercial and operations teams to align business development initiatives with
overall organizational priorities.
• Lead special initiatives to progress and sustain the growth of Road & Rail Services by
developing new frameworks, processes, and toolkits for the company.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and conduct customer reviews to ensure expectations are consistently being met
and if not to prepare an appropriate plan of action to correct
• Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote brand
visibility.

Education Requirements: 4-year college degree, Master's degree in business preferred
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years of manager level experience
• Prior commercial experience that demonstrates growth-oriented mindset
• Proven record of establishing a strong connection and credibility with prospects through the
highest level of professionalism, ethics, integrity, mutual respect and value-added approach
Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training:
• Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment
• Meet and maintain all requirements contained in the Conditions of Employment policy.
Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:
• Ability to travel by all forms of commercial conveyance with some overnight travel up to 50% of
total workdays
• Ability to frequently work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including
