Purpose of Position:
- Set up and maintain computers/tablets and supporting systems, as well as facilitating end-user support of those systems.
- Hardware and software configuration, including the installation, and maintenance as well as receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and help request tracking tools and will require both hands-on, face-to-face desktop support as well as remote help-desking.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Support
- Field help requests from end users in a courteous manner.
- Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
- Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk coworkers.
- Prioritize and schedule support requests.
- Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician. Document the help desk request problem-solving process.
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
- Leverage software and hardware approved and supported by the organization.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
- Test fixes to ensure the problem has been adequately resolved.
- Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
- Assist in developing help sheets and knowledge base articles for end users.
- Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
- Be cognizant of the IT landscape around you and move proactively in support of it.
Hardware and Software Implementation Support
- Setup and configure workstations and software, installation of network infrastructure, hardware/software upgrades/changes, field technical support requests, data recovery through utility software, diagnosing failures, troubleshooting hardware/software problems, work with third party service providers as necessary.
Routine Maintenance
- Maintain computer systems, including troubleshooting using diagnostic software/utilities, tidy service desks and service areas.
- Destroy retired data media and e-waste obsolete components.
Requirements
- Must be very proficient and well-versed in usage and basic administration of all versions of Macintosh OS X (10.14.x – 15.x) operating system.
- Possess technical skills and experience related specifically to supporting, diagnosing, and troubleshooting Apple Macintosh computers.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for the technical world.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
