About the role
Delta Solutions and Strategies is seeking a Subject Matter Expert to provide Joint Fires Element support at Headquarters, US Space Command. In support of USSPACECOM J3, the SME will support the Operations Branch to provide the Commander, USSPACECOM and Director of Operations, Training, and Force Development (J3) with joint fires operations expertise in support of strategic and operational planning and execution to create multi-domain effects on targets.
These are high ops tempo positions that will include operational joint fires planning, analysis, and execution as well as exercise support. SMEs can expect to travel in support of JFE objectives and perform occasional shift work to support exercises and operations. During exercises and wargames, SMEs can expect to serve as role-players to represent JFE coordination with external organizations. SMEs will also support Joint Operations Center certification and training of GO/FO Space Attack Assessors.

What you will be doing:
- Writing and staffing orders, plans, and instructions in support of operations and exercises, per government direction and approval.
- Identifying and recommending solutions for Joint Fires Operations Branch C2 challenges
- Maintaining USSPACECOM Joint Fires Common Operating Picture (COP) in the JOC
- Performing as a role player during exercises or training events to represent JFE coordination with external organizations
- Maintaining operational space knowledge IAW JP 3-14 and assigned missions assets
- Providing SME support to the JOC training and certification of General Officer/Flag Officer Space Attack Assessors (SAA).
- Supporting the planning and execution of Joint Staff and USSPACECOM exercises and war-games. Exercise execution and support to ongoing operations may require travel and extended workdays up to 12-hour shifts and weekends for a duration of 5-14 consecutive days.
- Assisting component planners to develop operational objectives and effects and appropriate lethal and non-lethal targeting options.
- Participating in USSPACECOM strategic and operational OPTs to facilitate the joint targeting cycle and supporting Regional/Adversary Team (R/AT) planning and coordination.
- Synchronizing, monitoring and assessing joint fires through the coordination and presentation of the Joint Effects Coordination Board (JECB) for re-strike recommendations.
- Respond to Task Management Tool requirements for JFE products, coordinating schedules and meeting locations; and providing summaries of meetings attended on behalf of JFE
What you will need:
- Experience in Lethal Effects or Targeting Officer positions, Special Technical Operations, Joint Fires Element, National Space Defense Center (NSDC) or Orbital Warfare roles.
- Experience initiating and developing Government specified content at the Combatant Command level.
- Experience in providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis and recommendations for mission and program challenges.
- The specific skills, knowledge, and comprehension to perform all task functions quickly and accurately without supervision or assistance.
- Previous planning experience, Joint Professional Military Education II (JPME II), or additional training such as but not limited to Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), Joint Firepower Course (JFC), Joint Targeting Course (JTC), Space 200/300, or like training courses.
- BA/BS or MA/MS desired; 12+ years relevant experience and relevant PME in lieu of degree requirements.
- TS/SCI clearance required with SAP eligibility.
