This Opportunity
WSP USA, Portland, Oregon office is looking for an Industrial Hygienist to join an experienced team of industrial hygienists. You will be providing full-time industrial hygiene support for a variety of interesting projects, under the direction of Senior Industrial Hygienists in a collaborative team environment.
Your Impact
- Perform industrial hygiene assessments for potential health hazards at client workplaces including evaluations for: chemicals, particulates, noise, mold, asbestos, ventilation (basic knowledge of industrial hygiene instrumentation is needed;
- Conduct industrial hygiene exposure assessments including walk-through surveys, inspections, source and air sampling, worker exposure monitoring and hazard control evaluations;
- Prepare concise technical reports on the assessments conducted and provide recommendations to eliminate or reduce workplace hazards;
- Interpret routine industrial hygiene requirements and regulations;
- May be responsible for managing projects, task order contracts and completing projects of small-moderate size and complexity.
- May be responsible for assisting in the coordination of group member assignments, and mentoring junior staff.
- May lead industrial Hygienists and client EHS management staff in coordinating, planning and executing projects; and
- Responsible for the quality of his/her own work and satisfying client specifications.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in industrial hygiene or related field with industrial hygiene course work completed.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-education experience performing industrial hygiene assessments in manufacturing, consulting, or similar;
- Knowledge of industry occupational safety and health regulations for general industry settings;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization;
- Ability to work independently and deliver high quality of work on time;
- Ability to work on multiple projects at a time;
- Must be a US Citizen able to pass a U.S. Security Clearance and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene(or similar field);
- AHERA Asbestos Inspector credentials
- Consulting Experience
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (or ability to do so within 3 years).
- Certified Safety Professional (or ability to do so within 3 years).
- 40-hour Hazwoper-trained
- Familiarity with AIHA and/or EPA risk assessment and statistical software tools and packages.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as, hard hats, ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, steel-toed boots, fall protection harnesses; and
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs.
About 10% of travel is required within the Pacific Northwest. Travel outside the PNW is possible but less frequent.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (WA): $67,700 - $88,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
