Rate of Pay: $36.12 (Base pay of $31.41/hour includes 12.5% per diem premium)
Summary
Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, and maintaining patient records.

Greets patients.
- Enters patient demographic and insurance information into the pharmacy’s prescription processing software.
- Processes prescriptions presented by customers and physicians.
- Types prescriptions with pharmacist oversight and troubleshoots all issues involved with this task.
- Verifies insurance coverage, and troubleshoots issues by calling insurance and workers’ compensation carriers as necessary.
- Manages cash register including troubleshooting credit card vendors, software updates, and accurate cash handling, returns and assists with closing out the register as required.
- Assists in bookkeeping duties including batching registers nightly, collecting and tracking accounts and Accounts Receivables from customers. Records totals shown on case register tape and verifies against cash on hand.
- Makes deposits to the bank and change orders as necessary.
- Manages the retail pharmacy’s front end over-the counter.
- Tracks inventory and orders items as necessary with oversight of pharmacist.
- Researches new items of interest for consideration for retail sale.
- Orders specialty items per customer requests from our drug wholesalers or warehouse.
- Organizes and cleans the front end daily and keeps it clutter-free.
- Sorts and tags the pharmacy’s order daily.
- Orders prescription medication with the oversight of the pharmacist.
- Prepares accounts payable, documents and forwards to accounting
- Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies.
- Participates in the quality improvement.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
No educational requirement and 6 months to 1 year relevant experience
California Pharmacy Technician License
