The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

 

Position Summary/Details:

This position will be part of the Business Innovation Solutions – IT & Corporate (BIS IT & Corp) department within the IT&T organization.  The BIS IT & Corp team is dedicated to ensuring efficient IT systems service delivery to enterprise business users, and confirming department operating procedures and compliance standards are met. 

 

Accountabilities:

  • Scrutinize data sources that will convert data into information.
  • Convert operational data into live, actionable dashboards and metrics, using tools like PowerBI.
  • Create metrics that assure compliance for IT governance and controls.
  • Optimize charts and presentations for effective consumption by various audiences, from tactical real-time use to executive outcomes.
  • Assist with IT Systems support and administrative tasks.
  • Assist with IT Systems enhancements, service requests, incidents, and projects.
  • Learn and follow IT governance and compliance controls.
  • Assist with updating desk level procedures.
  • Communicate work progress and status to all stakeholders.

 

Physical Location of Co-op: TECO PLAZA

Plaza 8th Floor (parking fees)

Working Conditions: Mostly in a normal office environment

 

Education:  

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

  • To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or Business

Preferred/Related Discipline: Business Administration or Compliance and Controls

Year in School: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior, or Graduate Student.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preferred Availability: 20 to 40 hours a week
