Job Description
We are seeking a CMT Field Technician 1 to join our San Francisco Bay Area team! Come join us! Our successful hire will have the following certifications: ACI Concrete Field-Testing-Grade 1; Caltrans Acceptance Tester (or ability to obtain it within 6 months); Nuclear Gauge Safety (for HMA testing).
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform field and plant inspections for HMA and/or PCC production and placement
- Conduct sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with applicable standards
- Monitor contractor compliance with project specifications and quality standards
- Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate findings and issues to project engineers and contractors
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment
- Assist in resolving material-related construction issues
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols
- Support project documentation and closeout processes
Minimum requirements:
- Education:
- Associate’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field.
- OR High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant experience in construction materials testing or inspection.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in construction materials testing, inspection, or quality assurance.
- Experience with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and/or Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) plant inspection is required (minimum 1 year).
- Other Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, bridges, airports).
- Familiarity with Caltrans or other DOT specifications and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
