Sanford Health has an opening for an Interventional Cardiologist to provide medical care to patients of Bemidji, MN, Park Rapids, MN and the surrounding area.

POSITION TITLE: Interventional Cardiologist
POSITION DUTIES: Examine, diagnose, and treat patients with cardiovascular disease. Specialize in the diseases of the heart and blood vessels and manage complex cardiac conditions, such as heart attacks and life-threatening, abnormal heartbeat rhythms. Be responsible for diagnosing, therapy selection, performing minimally invasive procedures and managing and judging the effectiveness of treatments for inpatients and outpatients with chronic coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and valvular heart disease for both acutely and chronically ill patients. Use specialized imaging and other diagnostic techniques to evaluate blood flow and pressure in the coronary arteries and chambers of the heart and will use technical procedures and medications to treat abnormalities that impair the function of the cardiovascular system. Treat acute ischemic syndrome and valvular heart disease. Perform cardiac catheterization lab procedures. Provide both outpatient and inpatient medical services and participate in call rotation on an equal rate with physician partners.
EDUCATION: Medical degree or foreign equivalent in Medicine
TRAINING: Cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship. Number of months of training required is dependent upon the number of months necessary to complete medical training leading to completion of cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship.
LICENSE: Minnesota state medical license or ability to obtain. BC/BE

Job Description

Interventional Cardiology Core Privileges includes the ability to perform history and physical examinations, admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and valvular heart disease.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log with a minimum of 250 therapeutic interventional cardiac procedures documented and a letter of reference must come from the fellowship director. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. For Interventional catheterization skills, applicants should provide documentation of 250 interventional procedures as the primary operator within the past 24 months and a letter of reference regarding competency from the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the institution where the applicant most recently practiced. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. For Interventional catheterization skills, applicants should provide documentation of 250 interventional procedures as the primary operator within the past 24 months and a letter of reference regarding competency from the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the institution where the applicant most recently practiced. Oversight: The first 10 Cardiac Catheterization procedures at Sanford Medical Center will be performed under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Cath Lab or Physician Designee.
