THE POSITION
Sunnova Energy is searching for an International Accounting and Tax Manager to support the growing accounting and tax function at Sunnova and our international expansion into Germany and Europe.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare/review the quarterly international income tax provision
  • Prepare/review international income tax returns, extensions, payments, etc.
  • Manage third-party compliance providers, as necessary
  • Correspond with local tax inquiries
  • Prepare the research, analysis, and documentation of various accounting and international tax matters
  • Prepare/review statutory financial statements
  • Document issues and research conclusions in memos based on findings
  • Assist the indirect tax department, as necessary
  • Meet all monthly, quarterly and yearly accounting deadlines
  • Ensure that we have proper accruals booked at month-end and quarter-end
  • Prepare/review month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare/review all monthly reporting packages, and flux analyses
  • Prepare/review conversions from local GAAP to US GAAP each month
  • Safeguards assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of controls
  • Works with the Financial Reporting Group to improve and timely-issue monthly financial records
  • Works in conjunction with the Financial, Planning and Analysis team to set annual budgets and quarterly forecasts and compare actuals to budgets on a monthly basis
  • Process improvements and automation of related areas
  • Assist in coordinating the information to internal and external auditors for internal controls testing, the quarterly reviews and annual tax and financial statement audits

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance,  or a related field
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant equivalent (or actively pursuing)
  • 5+ years’ experience with accounting and tax planning, research, and compliance
  • 2 years’ managing multiple, direct reports
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Must have proven track record of timely analyzing and summarizing extremely large quantities of data using, for example, advanced Excel functions
  • Must be able to demonstrate successful ownership (i.e., mastery) of the international accounting and tax function(s)
  • Must have German and US GAAP experience.
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Legally authorized to work in Germany.
  • German Residence Required (No relocation or work assistance offered)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting or taxation
  • A team player that has knowledge and experience in US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Previous experience in energy, and, in particular, residential solar
  • Strong experience and proficiency in data analytics tools
  • Previous experience working for multinational companies with headquarters in the US
