On-Call Associate for Retail Shop/Exhibit (Temporary)

Monmouth University is seeking applicants for an On-call Lead Associate for Retail Shop/Exhibit for a Pop-Up Shop and Exhibit Space located in Convention Hall in Asbury Park, New Jersey as part of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music department.  This is a temporary position.

The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, will be opening a Pop Up Shop and Exhibit space in Conventional Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. This shop will be open 5-7 days a week now through October 2025, showcasing merchandise and exhibits.

We are seeking a reliable, organized and customer-focused individual to join our team as an on-call lead shop associate of our pop-up shop. The lead shop associate will oversee daily retail operations, support and schedule volunteers and student staff and help maintain a welcoming environment for visitors. Strong communication skills, especially when working with our volunteers and the public, are essential. An interest in supporting our cultural and non-profit mission is highly desired.

This is an in-person, non-remote position located in Asbury Park, NJ

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Open and close the shop as scheduled
• Oversee, schedule and support volunteers and students during shifts
• Maintain excellent customer service, address inquiries and concerns
• Point of Sale terminal operations, including end-of-day reconciliation
• Restock merchandise and maintain visually appealing displays
• Communicate stock needs to the Programs Manager
• Support new volunteers in shop procedures
• Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure safety protocols are followed
• Collaborate with BSACAM staff on shop promotions and special events (book signings, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a retail environment
• Experience processing debit/credit card transactions accurately using a Point-of-Sale system
• Strong communication and excellent customer service skills
• Dependable and self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional holidays
• Interest in supporting our cultural and non-profit mission
