About the role

Intern
The Intern gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the organization. Over the 10-week summer internship program, this job participates in a robust training and onboarding program followed by an ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities. This job may have the opportunity to work in the follow business areas: Technology, Asset Management, Financial Analysis/Accounting, Audit, Risk and Compliance, Human Resources and Advice and Client Relationships.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs clerical duties such as taking memos, organizing documents, maintaining files, photocopying, faxing, etc. as needed
  • Assists in preparing information and research materials, including Powerpoint presentations.
  • Takes notes during meetings and provides to team members.
  • Researches and gathers documentation as directed by colleagues.
  • Attends company functions, including trainings programs, speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that provide opportunities for career growth and personal development.
  • Shadows multiple office jobs and trains in a variety of tasks.
  • Gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required

The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities for hand-on experiences, skills training, and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the TIAA and Nuveen’s businesses.  
The program includes an onboarding program followed by our ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors, and previous interns.  

The Digital & Client Experience (D&CX) team is a diverse area within TIAA that solves real business problems. D&CX’s purpose and objective is to delight clients by transforming TIAA’s culture and practices around client centricity, creating confidence and simplicity in our end-to-end experiences.  
D&CX interns will have an opportunity to join one of the following teams:  


•    Design: focusing on end-to-end client experience design that unlocks innovation and delights our clients. 
•    Analytics: Focusing on business analytics, data visualization, data governance/controls and/or data science.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Summer Associates will work on an exciting mix of strategically aligned challenging assignments and projects that help drive the achievement of the organization's strategy and mission. Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer interns to ensure development and learning. Candidates can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry and will be involved in creating resolutions for complex problems and/or transactions where business expertise is required.  

Additional Requirements: 

•    Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 

•    Expected Graduation date between December 2025– June 2027

•    Minimum GPA of 3.0

Preferred Skills:  
•    Overall GPA of 3.0 or better 
•    Interest in the fields of design, technology, client experience, customer research, product strategy / management, data analytics / enablement, reporting and business intelligence solutions. 
•    Passion for client experience and client insights. 
•    Experimentation and innovation mindset with a bias for action. 
•    Desire to continuously learn. 
•    Strong problem-solving/analytical skills/critical thinking.  
•    Ability to analyze data to identify trends. 
•    Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to deliver on commitments.  
•    Willingness to embrace change and collaborate to foster team success. 
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook).
