Description
The Spirits Director will oversee the strategic management and development of spirits brands within Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, which are control states for alcohol distribution. This role involves collaborating with state agencies, developing marketing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
As the Spirits Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping the landscape of spirits in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. You will lead innovative marketing strategies, foster partnerships, and ensure that our brands thrive in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for spirits sales and marketing in the control states.
- Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to identify growth opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all operations adhere to state laws and regulations regarding alcohol distribution and sales.
- Liaise with state liquor control boards and regulatory agencies.
Brand Management:
- Oversee the promotion and positioning of spirits brands within the control states.
- Work closely with marketing teams to develop campaigns that resonate with local consumers.
Sales Leadership:
- Drive sales initiatives and work with sales teams to achieve targets.
- Foster relationships with key accounts, distributors, and retailers.
Market Analysis:
- Conduct regular market assessments to inform pricing, promotions, and product placement strategies.
- Monitor competitor activities and adjust strategies accordingly.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and finance to align goals and initiatives.
- Lead training sessions for staff and partners on product knowledge and compliance.
Reporting:
- Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and market insights to senior management.
- Track performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of state regulations governing alcohol distribution.
- Proven track record of successful brand management and sales growth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in market analysis and reporting tools.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Leadership and team management.
- Strategic thinking and planning.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
Education/Training/Experience:
- College degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in beverage alcohol sales, preferably in control states.
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Occasional physical exertion including the regular lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds and the occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Role involves working in many environments, from office settings to bars, restaurants, and event spaces.
- Work requires travel and exposure to weather conditions.
- Potential for accidents due to travel including traffic accidents, delivery of goods, or the set up of displays.
