Overview
Lifeway is seeking a Manager of Software Development to lead the software development lifecycle within our Digital Experience domain, building solutions that enhance discovery, engagement, and impact around digital content and products. This is a mission-driven role guiding a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, customer-centered experiences that support the church.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. #LI-Remote
Responsibilities
- Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
- Lead planning of initiatives and features, align to budget targets, and guide the team with clarity.
- Partner with the Technical Product Manager to execute the roadmap, facilitate solutioning, and leverage quarterly PI Planning.
- Organize and oversee application development processes using agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira).
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while supporting their career trajectories.
- Build credibility and collaborate across teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions.
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement through R&D activities and exploration of new tools and practices.
- Manage annual operating and capital budgets for assigned areas.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computers or Information Technology , required
Masters degree, preferred
Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.), not required
Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required
- Delegation, coaching, and performance measurement
- Proficiency with Atlassian Jira and agile frameworks
- Strong communication, collaboration, and vendor management skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and foster trust
- Strategic, innovative approach to problem solving
Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church
Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred
- Strong background in digital product development or enterprise software environments
