The Senior Director of Production Services is the in-venue video director who helps turn a packed house into a true home-field advantage. This role leads the operational planning, staffing, workflows, and continuous improvement of the video control room that supports game presentations and special events across University of South Florida Athletics.
The Senior Director ensures the control room is ready every night and directs the videoboard program with pace, creativity, and strong instincts, delivering an entertaining fan experience while staying aligned to Marketing’s game presentation plan. This role is also a competitive operator, making fast replay decisions, reacting to game flow in real time, and supporting coaching staff with quick, accurate replay angle selection.
This position works in close partnership with the Associate Vice President, Broadcast and Live Event Productions and collaborates closely with Marketing, which owns overall show planning, content strategy, and run of show preparation. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Broadcast and Live Event Productions.
- Direct the videoboard program from the video control room, including calling cameras and coordinating real-time execution of video, replay, and graphics timing.
- Drive crowd energy through strong pacing and situational instincts, keeping the building engaged and the board feeling alive and timely.
- Make rapid, high-quality decisions on replays, quickly identifying the best angles and delivering them quickly to support coaching staff and game flow.
- Lead the planning and readiness of control room operations for athletic events, special events, and department initiatives requiring in-venue video support.
- Oversee the readiness and coordination of control room systems and related signal paths in partnership with technical staff and facilities teams, ensuring operational reliability on event day.
- Translate Marketing’s run of show into an executable control-room plan, including cue sheets, timing notes, staffing assignments, and operational triggers required for live performance.
- Establish and maintain workflows, checklists, preflight testing procedures, and operational standards to ensure consistent execution across sports and venues.
- Troubleshoot in real time during live events, restore service quickly, and maintain calm, clear communication under pressure.
- Coordinate with Marketing and internal stakeholders to confirm deliverables, formats, naming conventions, load-in timelines, and organization standards needed for reliable execution in the control room.
- Serve as a primary operational contact for control-room-related production needs, advising on execution requirements and practical deadlines tied to live performance.
- Lead and manage student employees, interns, and part-time staff supporting control room operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance development.
- Build a high-performance game-day culture in the control room that is prepared, fast, professional, and fun.
- Partner with Marketing to execute the game presentation plan by ensuring video control room readiness and reliable real-time direction, while Marketing retains ownership of overall show planning, content strategy, and run of show preparation.
- Ensure control room operations follow university and department policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, sports management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in live event production, game presentation, or a comparable control room environment.
- Demonstrated experience directing live shows in real time, including calling shots and executing a run of show under pressure.
- Strong organizational and operational planning skills, with the ability to translate a run of show into repeatable execution workflows.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor student employees and part-time staff.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedules.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education, athletics, or professional sports venues.
- Understanding of NCAA or conference event presentation standards.
- Familiarity with Daktronics Show Control is a bonus, especially in a live control room environment.
- Experience coordinating creative content production workflows as it relates to live execution readiness.
