Why You Will Love this Job:
This position will function within the New Product Development CAD team and will be responsible for high quality and efficient designs, full design project management, and supporting global initiatives. Will lead and collaborate with CAD resources domestically and globally along with coordinating work to others as the project design lead. Responsible for supporting and at times ensuring all standards and processes are compatible throughout all functions and regions. This position requires a highly technical background that can easily adapt and provide expertise in systems and processes. Responsible for assisting in regional documentation of processes, standards, and training materials.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead CAD design, development, and support of gensets, enclosures, tanks and accompanying mechanical systems by preparing complex and advanced mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, using Creo and Windchill as the driving software, as well as a strong sense of design intent and manufacturability.
- Influences teams in engineering best practices and practical problem-solving involving design, fabrication, validation, systems, and processes.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering System Support to standardize software and processes.
- Effectively communicate, support, and contribute information and best practices cross functionally and cross culturally. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced Global environment.
- Participate in and lead global design and harmonization efforts.
- Support genset conceptual, development, and production builds through a gated engineering release process.
- Continually strive for process and CAD standards improvements, including model-based definition, model-based enterprise and smart connected factory efforts.
- Makes appropriate decisions using decision support tools and critical thinking including risk/reward ratios and critical pathing. Independently resolve software issues using reporting tools and service requests.
- Take ownership and accountability of both individual work and work completed as part of a team.
- Build business relationships, trust, and engagement amongst teams and customers.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or similar and 5+ years of design experience OR a bachelor's degree in a non-engineering discipline with 5+ Years of experience in an engineering environment with demonstrated results.
- Preferred experience with Creo/Windchill or at least 5 years using similar 3D modeling software
- Experience with sheet metal design, welding and surfacing preferred.
- Comfortable mentoring junior design analysts.
- Experience with Creo Simulation Tools is a plus.
- Self-starter, with the ability to work independently and/or with teams.
- Communicates well and possesses strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Analytical, with a high degree of problem-solving and data analysis skills.
- Makes appropriate decisions using support tools, documentation, and critical thinking.
- Willing and successful in taking moderate risk.
- Well organized, manages time, and tracks projects and project tasks effectively.
- Creative problem solver in all aspects of the role.
