Vice President of Roofing Operations

About the role

We are the nation’s largest privately held residential solar and roofing company. Private Equity backed with a strong and growing presence across multiple markets, we are committed to delivering exceptional service, scaling with integrity, and driving innovation in home improvement.

As we continue to invest in and expand our Roofing Division, we are seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead and scale a high-volume residential re-roofing business. We currently install over 50 roofs per week and expect significant growth in volume in the coming years.

This role is responsible for managing field operations across multiple states, executed through a large and growing subcontractor network. The VP will oversee all post-sale operations, including coordination between roofing and solar teams to ensure an outstanding customer experience.

We have deep roofing expertise internally. What we need in this leader is not another roofing expert — we need an exceptional operator who can build process, manage people, drive accountability, and execute. The ideal candidate is highly organized, data-driven, and thrives in complex, high-volume service environments. Experience in residential roofing is a plus but is not required. Strong operators from adjacent industries — home improvement, exterior remodeling, siding, windows, HVAC — or candidates with military leadership backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Location: New Jersey (Onsite preferred; Hybrid with Travel)

Compensation: $200,000 base salary + performance bonus

**Relocation assistance for the right candidate**

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of roofing operations across multiple states: subcontractor management, pipeline oversight, field quality, and customer experience.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage a high-performing subcontractor network across all operating states; go slowly with each new sub and onboard properly before scaling volume.
  • Build internal estimating capability so we set the price and SLA for each job and present it to subs for acceptance — rather than asking subs to quote us.
  • Incent Project Coordinators to route volume to newly onboarded subs; track follow-through and stay closely involved until each new sub is a proven performer.
  • Drive the organization away from “turnkey” sub arrangements and toward direct, structured relationships where we control scope, pricing, and SLAs.
  • Drive rigorous pipeline management — ensure Salesforce is current, jobs are advancing, and blockers are cleared quickly.
  • Sit in on Project Coordinator pipeline reviews; listen to why jobs stall and eliminate root causes with better processes.
  • Build and enforce a defined escalation path so Project Coordinators resolve issues themselves rather than defaulting to management.
  • Ensure Project Coordinators can handle day-of change orders and job close-out independently, reducing unnecessary hand-offs to other roles.
  • Coach and develop internal leaders; replace those who cannot perform to standard.
  • Hold the team accountable to commitments without requiring top-down micromanagement.
  • Actively manage Field Managers around a structured daily site review cadence: pre-install reviews, day-of-install visits, and post-install escalation visits.
  • Build and maintain a Salesforce dashboard for Field Managers so they start each day knowing exactly which site visits are required.
  • Ensure every Field Manager site visit is logged in Salesforce; hold the team to this standard consistently.
  • Evaluate current operations and implement scalable SOPs, reporting standards, and quality control frameworks to support growth.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordination and Customer Experience teams to support end-to-end operational execution.
  • Coordinate with the Solar Division to ensure roofing and solar operations are tightly integrated and customer-facing teams are aligned.
  • Manage purchasing and delivery logistics for all roofing materials to support a highly efficient install schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, permitting requirements, and jurisdictional standards across all markets.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing complex field operations in a high-volume residential service environment — roofing, home improvement, exterior remodeling, HVAC, or similar.
  • Demonstrated abili
