Data Center Metro Business Program Manager

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Data Center Metro Business Program Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial and programmatic health of our data center operations. This position will report to the Metro Director and serve as a key partner in driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and alignment with Microsoft’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial management activities, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, ensuring data center metro financial accuracy and compliance with organizational standards. 
• Develop and communicate financial insights to senior metro leadership, translating complex data into actionable recommendations that drive business performance and cost optimization. 
• Manage the financial and operational aspects of vendor relationships, including contract oversight, performance metrics, and coordination of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to ensure alignment with business objectives. 
• Partner with data center operations teams to monitor and track spend, evaluate cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategic projects to improve financial efficiency. 
• Serve as a key resource for financial controllership, supporting month-end close activities and preparing detailed spend management review materials for the metro. 
• Identify inefficiencies or defects in processes and lead initiatives to automate, standardize, and streamline operations to improve accuracy and reduce waste.
• Function as the primary liaison for critical vendor coordination, ensuring alignment between metro leadership, operations teams, and external vendors to support seamless execution of business priorities. 
• Collaborate with local and global teams to drive the adoption of best practices, implement process improvements, and ensure consistency in operational and financial activities across the metro. 
• Coordinate and manage site visits from internal teams, external customers, and Microsoft executives, ensuring a professional and seamless experience. 
• Contribute thought leadership to evolve processes, services, and solutions in support of data center operational excellence and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
