Job Description
Scope: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer position will be an advancement position for those individuals which have demonstrated through a broader range of knowledge, education, skills, or talents the ability and initiative to contribute in a significant manner to the goals and objectives of Production Engineering, Operations and the Company.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Assignments for this position will be of a broader scope, difficulty, and responsibility.
- Multiple Program Responsibility will be assigned with latitude as to scope and duration
- Coordinate between engineering, production and management for the effective and efficient manufacture of the product and delivery to the customer.
- The development and presentation of data, proposals and projects to a diverse group of personnel.
- Develop all needed production file documentation from engineering data packages, engineering change orders, and all other sources of data.
- Project lead for build process and documentation, configuration changes, methods and tools for production programs.
- Identify and participate in producibility and cost improvement projects.
- Support outsourcing and make/buy decisions.
- Keep abreast of current and evolving manufacturing technologies.
- Provide preliminary review dispositions along with required repair/rework instruction on discrepant product.
- Take a lead role in make/buy decisions.
- Transfer of build processes from/to other facilities.
- Lead lean and process improvement efforts.
- The training and mentoring of new and existing employees; especially other engineers.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Authorities:
- Coordination and goal setting with other departments.
- Some actions independent of supervision.
- Preliminary Review Disposition.
- Access to PLM ESA and ELBIT.
- Initiate Quality Actions to identified problems.
- Conduit for customer issues.
Business Relationships:
- Customer Support through the Program Offices.
- Management.
- Liaison to Engineering and Design Engineering.
- Coordination with Program, Project, and Production Managers on engineering change proposals, reviews, and implementation.
- Coordination of configuration control activities with the Configuration/Data Management.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of functional (using skill set) experience is required
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master degree is preferred
- The ability to obtain Security Clearance
Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to work and solve Engineering Issues of a highly technical nature.
- Knowledge of business activities and priorities
- The skill to take the initiative and achieve results
- The ability to run meetings and make presentations
- The skill to train and mentor new or existing employees
- The ability to Read and Interpret Technical Data Package
- Knowledge and Experience in Electronic Assembly Manufacturing
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- The ability to use Microsoft Word and Photo programs to produce Production files
- The skill to work issues internationally
- The skill to work effectively in teams
- The ability to use and manage configuration management software
- The skill to work and perform in a union environment
- The skill to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries
Preferred: Professional Engineering Certification
