The Financial Services Group covers virtually every segment of financial services, including specialty finance companies, consumer and commercial finance, insurance companies, brokers and TPAs, asset managers, broker-dealers and BDCs, depositories, and financial technology companies.

Job Description

The Financial Services Group is seeking to complement its New York-based team of professionals with a qualified and motivated associate.  Associates work on a variety of transactions that expose them to various investment banking services, including mergers and acquisitions, private and public placements of debt and equity, as well as restructurings.  

Associates are expected to have strong intellectual curiosity and problem-solving abilities that will be rewarded with challenging work and a high level of responsibility in return. Associates work across all industry verticals within financial services and will be afforded the opportunity to obtain a very diverse understanding of the financial institution landscape.

In the Financial Services Group, responsibilities include supporting investment banking engagements and new business development.

You will:

  • Prepare, analyze, and help explain historical and projected financial information;

  • Create financial models;

  • Coordinate and perform business due diligence;

  • Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing pitches, and other presentations;

  • Value companies and businesses;

  • Lead the planning and execution of marketing engagements

  • Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients and prospective clients and professional advisors; and

  • Supervise junior staff members in financial analyses.

Qualifications

In the Financial Services Group, associates are relied on heavily and given significant responsibility. Candidates considered for this role will be highly motivated self-starters who possess excellent financial modeling skills, strong oral and written communication abilities, demonstrated time management skills, and the desire to work as a team member. The ideal candidate will have proven financial institutions investment banking experience as an associate or as a financial analyst within a well-respected financial institutions practice or financial institution, or a demonstrated interest and knowledge of financial institutions.

Recent business school graduates will be considered provided they have one or more years of investment banking experience as a financial analyst or associate prior to or following their MBA program.

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and finance

  • An undergraduate degree with academic distinction

  • Strong analytical/quantitative and technical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail

  • Significant leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

  • Previous investment banking experience is strongly preferred
