Established by Bill Foley in 1996, Foley Family Wines & Spirits (FFWS) is a portfolio of highly acclaimed wines and spirits from some of the world’s greatest estates. The company owns more than 25 wineries and distilleries, each with its distinct style, legacy, and approach to hospitality.
FFWS has expanded its portfolio significantly since its founding, now including such storied brands as Chalk Hill Estate Winery, Sebastiani, Roth, Banshee, Ferrari-Carano, Chateau St. Jean, and Lancaster in Sonoma County; Merus, Silverado, and Foley Johnson in Napa Valley; Lincourt, Firestone, and Foley Estates in Southern California; Chalone Vineyard in Monterey County; Four Graces and Acrobat in Oregon; and Three Rivers in Washington. Foley Family Wine & Spirits import wines include Lucien Albrecht in France, Nieto Senetiner in Argentina, and 14 wine brands spanning three of New Zealand’s most acclaimed winegrowing regions: Marlborough, Central Otago, and Martinborough. The growing global spirits portfolio includes Minden Mill Distilling, Charles Goodnight Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey, New Zealand’s Lighthouse Gin, El Mexicano Tequila, The Loch Lomond Group in Scotland, Two Stacks Irish Whisky and Killowen.
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer and Controller, manage all aspects of technical accounting, consolidation, and internal control requirements through continuous interaction with accounting department management in preparation for financial statement audits. Also, prepare technical memorandums documenting the Company’s accounting treatment for various issues in accordance with appropriate accounting literature and assists in the preparation of the financial statements and footnotes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Research AICPA accounting and disclosure requirements in order to ensure Company compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
- Synthesize Company hierarchy and ensures intercompany accounting, eliminations and consolidation are appropriately recorded
- Assess control environment of Company, including for acquired companies and newly formed business units, and ensures sufficient documentation of processes and controls for audit compliance.
- Expand effectiveness and efficiency of overall control environment by rationalizing key controls through continued identification, documentation and implementation of entity and segment level controls to address key risk areas.
- Provide operational input on risk management and regulatory issues
- Ensure documentation behind company’s books and records are audit-ready
- Identify opportunities to develop, implement and standardize key application controls across operating locations.
- Maintain company-wide key control matrix ensuring all applicable assertions are addressed for material account balances through defined entity level and application-level key controls.
- Remain current on pronouncements and updates management on new developments and changes in technical guidance related to internal control compliance.
- Research accounting literature from various sources and prepares technical memorandums documenting the Company’s accounting treatment for specific issues in accordance with the appropriate guidance.
- ·Prepare GAAP compliant financial statements.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Other Abilities
- Knowledge of the requirements of AICPA Standards, COSO 2013, GAAP, financial reporting standards, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and other applicable professional guidance.
- Financial and business acumen.
- Knowledge of internal and external auditor requirements and reporting.
- CPA preferred
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Effective managerial skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Proficient in use of various software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Works effectively with Company management and with external parties
