About the role

Job Summary 

The Trauma Registrar (RN) is responsible for the development, implementation, and participation in trauma registry practices that ensure accurate data, timely data entry and timely reporting.  The Trauma Registrar (RN) will monitor the care provided to each trauma patient, collect information daily, report it for inclusion in the trauma registry database, and accurately perform hospital based coding and injury severity score.  

 

  • Responsible for complete and accurate data collection and maintenance of records for all patients who meet inclusion criteria for the Trauma Registry.    
  • Abstracts and enters data into the Trauma Registry and generates reports.    
  • Uploads data registry data to the regional, state and national registries.    
  • Coordinates the quality review of abstracts entered into the registry.  
  • Assists with the annual report, conducting a variety of data analysis and reports, coordinating and preparing for survey by the American College of Surgeons.    
  • Serves as a clinical liaison between pre-hospital providers, physicians and hospital personnel.  
  • Other duties as assigned  
  • Minimum Requirements 
    • Education: Graduate of accredited nursing school 
    • Experience: 3 years of clinical nursing experience in Trauma Services.   
    • Licensure/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse state license 
  • Preferred Requirements 
    • Education: Bachelors in Nursing  
    • Experience:   
      • Certified Specialty in Trauma Registry (CTRS) certification.  
      • Medical Records coding and abstracting experience.  
      • Experience with injury severity scoring.   
    • Licensure/Certifications: Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) course and American Trauma Society (ATS) Trauma Registrar Course in injury severity scaling within 12 months of hire.
