Accounting Manager

Purpose:

Performs various complex accounting duties according to Dealership policy and accounting theory. Duties include coordinating, preparing, and analyzing general ledger information and reports that provide summary information for management to use in making Dealership financial decisions. Represents the Accounting Department as the contact for accounting issues. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.  Provides excellent customer service for employees as well as customers and vendors.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepares various daily, monthly, quarterly, or annual financial reports or statements
2. Records routine or recurring transactions
3. Gathers, reviews, and analyzes statistical information
4. Makes necessary corrections and/or adjustments to receive accurate report information
5. Examines accounting information contained in reports and exhibits, traces and reconciles unusual variances
6. Performs and/or oversees complex account reconciliations
7. Helps maintain General Ledger accounts
8. Performs and/or oversees monthly Sales and Use Tax reporting for multiple states
9. Works closely with employees throughout the organization in all departments to answer accounting questions and resolve issues
10. Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

• 5+ years in an accounting or bookkeeper position
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of accounting systems
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Degree in Accounting/Finance discipline or equivalent experience
