SUMMARY
Covetrus seeks an experienced Solution Architect (SA) to set the strategic technical vision for our product development. As one of our senior technology leaders, the SA will see the “big picture” and create architectural approaches for solution design and implementation to guide the development teams.
A great architect has a strong technical background and excellent development, cloud, and IT skills. They are experienced in designing and possess the ability to develop a unified vision for software characteristics and functions. As such, the SA establishes technical roadmaps to deliver business initiatives, works with other Architects to create and maintain engineering best practices, promotes R&D and innovation, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, finds ways to reduce technical debt, and folds strong security and performance standards into everything the engineering team does. The SA also engages with business partners to ensure that projects align to business and IT strategy and is accountable for translating and communicating the plans to the engineering team for tactical execution.
The SA must be a strong developer and must be well-versed in software development and cloud infrastructure technologies. This position will involve hands-on development of new web prototypes and applications. The SA will be a primary thought leader as we build new applications and continue our transformation of our legacy commerce and fulfillment stacks toward modern standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Establish, maintain, evangelize, and communicate an ongoing strategic vision for Covetrus’ products.
Evaluate business requirements for technical and functional gaps against existing platforms and establish a roadmap to deliver these capabilities in a sustainable way that promotes maximum re-use.
Collaborate and influence peer IT groups and business leaders towards a published technical vision.
Trusted advisor to our business partners.
Consultant to the company on the opportunities and implications of emerging technologies.
Ensure that our technology solutions meet the highest standards of security, stability, performance and scalability.
Support security, compliance, and legal teams.
