Job Description
Our IT Department, comprising of 14 dedicated professionals, is the backbone of support for the New York City Police Pension Fund. Leveraging a diverse range of expertise, we ensure seamless integration of cutting-edge technology solutions, guaranteeing the Fund's digital infrastructure remains robust and secure.
The Fund is seeking a full-time Oracle Database Administrator / Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join the IT Development Operations (DevOps) team. This role is responsible for the administration, performance, security, and availability of enterprise Oracle database environments, as well as the development and maintenance of PL/SQL database objects.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Oracle 19c and higher, demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, and have hands-on experience supporting mission-critical database systems in both Linux and Windows environments. This role plays a key part in ensuring optimal database performance, reliability, and scalability.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead the installation, configuration, upgrading, and patching of Oracle databases (19c and above);
- Architect, implement, and manage high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including RAC, ASM, and Data Guard;
- Perform advanced database performance tuning, including SQL tuning, AWR/ASH analysis, and wait event analysis;
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery strategies using RMAN;
- Manage database security, including encryption, auditing, compliance, roles, and access controls;
- Proactively monitor database environments to prevent performance or availability issues (Oracle Enterprise Manager experience preferred);
- Lead major database upgrades, migrations, and consolidation initiatives;
- Automate DBA operational tasks using Shell scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, and/or Python;
- Develop and maintain complex SQL and PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, packages, triggers, views, and functions;
- Work with Data Warehouse components, including LOBs and external tables;
- Provide 24x7 production support and lead root-cause analysis for critical incidents;
- Collaborate closely with application development, infrastructure, and information security teams;
- Mentor junior DBAs and review operational procedures for accuracy and effectiveness;
- Maintain database standards, best practices, and comprehensive technical documentation, including data dictionaries and data mappings;
- Coordinate project activities with internal teams and external consultants, including estimating timelines and resource requirements and contributing to project plans.

Salary: The hiring rate being offered for this position is $132,170. If you possess the preferred skills above, consideration will be given to offer you a maximum annual salary of no more than $159,151. The salary is non-negotiable.

NOTE: This is a full-time on-site position where you will be required to report to the office five (5) days a week for training purposes. After successfully completing training, you may be considered for telework.
