Position Summary
The Stony Brook GME department provides support and oversight for all the graduate medical education programs sponsored by Stony Brook Medicine, including programs primarily based at our affiliated hospitals. It provides onboarding for all residents and fellows when they enter their programs, ensures trainees and programs are aware of and adherent to the appointment and re-appointment credentialing requirements, implements and manages accreditation-related compliance with rules and regulations promulgated by GME accrediting agencies as well as the Joint Commission, the Department of Health, and the organization; ensures an optimal learning environment for trainees, including support for wellness, oversight of duty hours/work compliance, and education in key areas of their training which are not specialty-specific; provides education and support for GME administrative staff and faculty to help compliance and promote career growth.
Duties of a GME Generalist may include the following but are not limited to:
- Assist with monitoring and tracking completion of program annual Accreditation Data System (ADS) updates, and other accreditation requirements.
- Assist programs in use of American Medical Association modules, ERAS, and Thalamus applications.
- Assist with event planning .
- Monitor, track, and ensure completion of GME verification requests from other institutions.
- Participate in review of residency and fellowship applications to ensure eligibility criteria are met.
- Participate in planning and implementation of annual orientation.
- Coordinate and monitor participation of residents and fellows on institutional and GME committees.
- Assist database manager with GME New Innovations platform.
- Assist with drafting and tracking of Program Letters of Agreement.
- Participate in maintenance and management of purchasing requests.
- Maintain currency of understanding of ACGME, NRMP, and ERAS rules.
- Serve as back up to Administrative Coordinator as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by DIO and ADIO.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity
- At least 3 years of Graduate Medical Education experience
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficiency including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge of NRMP or similar
- Experience and knowledge of ERAS or similar
