Job Description
About the Role:
The Senior Director, Market Analytics, Oncology will be a critical member of the Oncology marketing team leading sales, marketing and market analytics and insights. The individual will manage a team to deliver the analytics and insights needed to support Guardant’s US clinical oncology business, including primary market research with oncologists and patients, comprehensive market analysis including analysis of third-party and internal data to understand customer behavior, demand forecasting, and sales analytics and operations. They will also be a member of the marketing leadership team reporting to the VP, Oncology Marketing, and partnering with the Marketing & Promotions and the Strategy & Operations team.
Responsibilities:
- Guide the market analytics team of about 5 individual contributors to deliver on all necessary analytics in support of the US oncology marketing and sales teams
- Be willing to lead your own projects as an IC, while also managing and mentoring the team, and building strong relationships with cross-functional partners
- Drive successful collaborations with your cross-functional partners ensuring research, analytics and insights delivered by the team are actionable
- Ensure the team delivers primary market research projects for the US oncology portfolio (Guardant360 CDx, Guardant360, Guardant360 TissueNext, Guardant360 Response and Guardant Reveal), including both qualitative and quantitative studies such as opportunity assessments, quarterly ATUs, positioning & messaging research
- Guide the team in using primary and secondary data sources to support business case development, market sizing and competitor trends
- Contribute to planning, tracking, and forecasting by coaching the team to provide operational analyses for in-market indications, such as the development of KPIs, and empowering your forecasting lead to deliver both quarterly and long-term demand forecasts
- Manage the sales analytics and operations team to understand salesforce effectiveness, and design and administer incentive compensation
- Partner with other members of marketing team leadership to pressure test and validate commercial strategy and executional success, and assess and measure internal strengths and weakness, along with external opportunities and threats
- Work cross-functionally with other commercial leaders, such as sales leadership and finance, to ensure the commercial team can adequately assess performance and has a clear understanding of our place in the oncology diagnostics market
Qualifications
- 8+ years of related, relevant experience (i.e., analytics, market research, marketing, sales, etc. in pharma, biotech or diagnostics) required
- 4+ years of oncology or specialty diagnostics analytics experience necessary.
- The ideal candidate will have both prior experiences in management consulting applied to pharma or biotech, and direct experience in the industry in an analytical role
- Exemplary experience and proven track record executing across multiple aspects of commercial analytics and insights, including primary market research, forecasting, and sales analytics
- Strong management and leadership experience, and a demonstrated track record of achievement
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-based environment and partner with external/internal stakeholders
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a quantitative discipline. Advanced degree preferred (PhD, MBA)
