We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant I to support the fixed asset team at Arthrex in all aspects of the fixed asset accounting process and capital investment approval administration. This includes: related master data maintenance for applicable Arthrex entities. The objective is to assist the team in delivering timely, accurate and reconciled accounts, financial reports, tax-relevant classifications, and depreciation runs in SAP with adequate evaluation that withstand vetting through audits. **Disclosure: Occasional travel to one of Arthrex’s production locations in SC, Ave Maria, or ALC as needed (10% Travel)**

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Month End Closing and Reporting

  • Perform assigned month end closing tasks for fixed assets for one or more company codes in SAP
  • Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports or roll forwards as needed
  • Prepare and assist in submission of timely government or tax reports as assigned
  • Support the preparation of schedules and documentation for the Arthrex Tax group as well as for internal/external audits as needed and assigned

 

Transactional Processes and Account Maintenance

  • Calculate and prepare journal entries where needed
  • Assist in fixed asset related depreciation runs in SAP and FAS (internal tax system) and processing of additions, asset transfers and disposals where applicable
  • Help to monitor the fixed asset e-mail and maintain the Arthrex CAPEX project database
  • Where applicable maintain master data such as for fixed assets, internal orders, asset shells
  • Participate in the capital investment approval process administration and documentation
  • Other specific processes may be required and assigned like intercompany transfers, depreciation and useful life determination for patents or other assets, ad hoc requests or analyses for internal customers and finance leadership

 

Research and Analytics

  • Ensure transactions and journal entries are recorded according to US GAAP and aligned with Arthrex’ finance and reporting manual
  • Reviewing postings on internal orders for assets under construction and expenses for accurate classification into fixed assets vs. expense
  • Support the presentation of financial statements, roll forwards or tax reports
  • Reconcile accounts and values between the tax group’s internal IT systems and SAP

 

Planning and Process Improvement Functions

  • Participate and support budget monitoring, reporting through the capital investment database
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to financial processes and reports where applicable
  • Utilize internal controls with respect to accuracy of accounting and protection of company assets

 

Other Tasks

  • These duties may evolve over time or new duties added as future needs arise

 

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Expected to display general working knowledge of US GAAP principles with focus on cost accounting specifics
  • Gain experience in multi-tasking and prioritizing work
  • Able to perform routine transaction processing and standard, repeatable monthly tasks

 

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business/ Economics required
  • 1 year of releva
