ICF Next is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist, Health Communications, to play a critical role in supporting Federal communications efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communication, project management, clinical dietetics, and health research. This role involves developing compelling content, managing digital presence, overseeing social media platforms, and collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to communicate research findings and institutional initiatives. Candidates will have a critical understanding of behavioral health and cancer control and population sciences initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation & Strategy: Develop compelling content for newsletters, website updates, social media posts, and research publications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, researchers, and leadership to communicate research findings, funding opportunities, and institutional initiatives to diverse audiences.
  • Social media & Digital Presence: Oversee the management of social media platforms and digital campaigns.
  • Brand Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of the institution’s brand voice, ensuring consistency in messaging across all communication materials and platforms.
  • Event Promotion & Management: Support the planning, promotion, and execution of institutional events, conferences, webinars, and fundraising initiatives, ensuring effective communication and maximum participation and reach.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor the effectiveness of communication strategies through data analysis and reporting.
  • Health Behavior Change and Education: Motivate the public to evaluate current lifestyles, identify and incorporate simple and effective shifts in their health behaviors, guide clients through monitoring and evaluating their progress. Develop health and nutrition information for seminars and workshops and work with individuals, small groups, and companies to improve their health and well-being. Communicate nutrition information in plain language for public outreach via written and oral methods.
  • Program Development & Evaluation: Consult on, develop, and facilitate nutrition education and research programs and projects for companies and organizations. Design, manage, and evaluate innovative evidence-based health and nutrition programs, program quality and process improvement studies, and new approaches to electronic health record documentation.
  • Research Coordination & Data Management: Manage the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of multiple social and behavioral research projects and program activities.
  • Program Communication: Manage communication with multiple project sites to facilitate project operations.
  • Scientific Writing and Presentations: Author abstracts, presentations, posters, reports, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. Present social and behavioral research findings at Institute and national conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health communication, health education, marketing, public relations, social sciences, or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in health or related field.
  • 10 years’ experience in health communications.
  • Project Management Professional.
  • Proficiency in multiple EMR systems, Microsoft applications, Adobe applications, social media platforms, and Spanish language (written and spoken).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust.

  • Proven project coordination experience with health communications projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
