Medical-Surgical Director| Full-Time

Description

The Medical Surgical Director is primarily responsible for providing administrative oversight and direction for the Med/Surg Unit at North Canyon Medical Center. The Director will provide accountability for planning, directing, leading, and evaluating nursing care within this department. Responsibilities include participating in the Swing Bed Program, as this is a fundamental aspect of this position and key to the success of the organization’s Swing Bed Program development, implementation, and evaluation. The Medical/Surgical Director reports to the Clinical Nursing Director.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Current Idaho RN license and BLS certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are preferred.
• Works within the Scope of Practice, as appropriate.
• Demonstrated progressive clinical and leadership experience.
• Skills in conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of safety practices.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, standards, and professional practices.
• Ability and willingness to work and support internal customers' growth and development.
• Understands and utilizes system resources when dealing with external customers, including media, visitors, and the general public.
• Ability to recognize whole-system functioning and make judgments/decisions based on unit/system-specific needs.
• Leadership and critical thinking ability.
• Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain clinical and age-related competency as required for the unit/area(s) of assignment.
• Excellent communication skills, including oral comprehension/expression and written comprehension/expression.
• Ability to manage a chaotic work environment related to a dynamic environment, changing patient needs, including work with staff, peers, and physicians, as well as patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes and those who are dying.
• Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect).
• Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
• ACLS plus other certifications are required
