Job Duties

Serves as the Director of Medical Services for the hospital. Provides leadership, direction, management, and supervision of the activities of the Medical Staff. Monitors facility-wide medical and psychiatric services to ensure appropriateness for the patient population. Advises the Facility Director/CEO on clinical and administrative matters, particularly patient management, quality of care, and risk management issues, and contributes to facility-wide program development.

Minimum Qualifications

-Graduation from an approved/accredited medical school.
-Completion of a psychiatric residency program.
-Current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
-Current federal license to prescribe medications.
-Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
-Prior clinical experience in a behavioral health hospital required.
-Knowledge of quality assurance and utilization review functions.

Additional Considerations

-Prior administrative and supervisory experience preferred.
-Clinical experience in forensic psychiatry preferred.
-Dual certification in psychiatry and geriatrics preferred
