Overview
Lead cross-functional teams to conceptualize, develop, and implement high-impact strategic initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring the alignment of projects with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals while applying best practices in project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
The Director of Project Management will serve as not only the application lead for Teamwork and JIRA, driving adoption, training, and optimization of these tools for project execution and accountability but as the Team Lead for the HCS project managers (Operational and Technical Project Managers) . This position requires a strategic thinker with experience in high-level project conceptualization and execution, stakeholder engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration.
The Director of Project Management reports to the Business Analytics and Strategy, Advisor To The President and plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and impact of HCS’s projec management frameworks.
Pay for this position: $110262 / yr - 122513 / yr
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead and oversee large-scale, organization-wide strategic initiatives, ensuring they align with HCS’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Conceptualize, develop, and manage high-impact projects from inception to completion, ensuring measurable outcomes.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across departments to drive strategic alignment and execution.
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the Manager for the HCS Project Management Team, overseeing the Operational Project Managers (OPM) and Technical Project Managers (TPM).
- Provide training, coaching, mentorship, and performance oversight to ensure OPM and TPM align their projects with organizational priorities.
- Define clear objectives, expectations, and reporting structures for the OPM and TPM, ensuring synergy across all project functions.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex project challenges, resource allocation decisions, and interdepartmental collaboration efforts.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence within the project management team.
Project Management & Methodologies
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including task assignments, timelines, risk assessments, and resource allocation.
- Apply both Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies, tailoring approaches to specific project needs.
- Monitor project performance using standardized tracking tools, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
Application Leadership & Training
- Act as the application lead for Teamwork and JIRA, ensuring optimal platform utilization across HCS.
- Conduct training sessions for executives, directors, and staff on Teamwork and JIRA best practices, ensuring seamless adoption and adherence to project management standards.
- Ensure that projects are structured, documented, and reported through Teamwork, supporting organizational transparency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to define project goals, key deliverables, and success metrics.
- Develop and deliver high-level strategic reports and presentations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular project status meetings, ensuring informed decision-making and alignment on priorities.
Risk & Resource Management
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, ensuring continuity and alignment with organizational goals.
- Optimize resource allocation and planning, balancing workload across strategic, operational, and technical projects.
Continuous Improvement & Change Leadership
- Implement best practices in change management, integrating the Prosci ADKAR model where applicable.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying efficiency gaps, process enhancements, and innovation opportunities.
- Champion a culture of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and accountability within the project management team.
