Description
Bollinger Motors is seeking a Diagnostic Field Manager to oversee the diagnostic support, maintenance, and repair services for our automotive products and systems, with a particular focus on Class 4, 5, and 6 vehicles. This role requires strong leadership skills, a technical background in automotive diagnostics, and the ability to manage a team of field service engineers effectively. This position reports to the Aftersales Network Director. This is an in-person role at the company’s Oak Park, MI headquarters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Diagnostic Field Service Engineers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee diagnostic tests and troubleshooting on automotive equipment and systems at client sites, specifically for Class 4, 5, and 6 vehicles.
- Ensure the installation, maintenance, and repair of automotive diagnostic equipment and systems are performed efficiently.
- Provide training and support to clients and team members on the proper use and maintenance of diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with the technical support team to resolve complex diagnostic issues.
- Document service activities and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Travel to client locations as required.
- Develop and manage budgets for service operations.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement process changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Requirements
Education, Skills and Knowledge

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering (or related field)
- 5+ years of experience in service diagnostic engineering, with at least 2 years in a management role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Experience with root cause analysis and fault diagnosis.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g. OSHA, ASME)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
- Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software
- Experience with predictive maintenance software (e.g. predictive analytics, condition monitoring)
