The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising and Student Services will serve as part of a dedicated team of higher education professionals committed to recruiting, admitting, and supporting a diverse undergraduate student population. The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising and Student Services will manage the lifecycle of student engagement, including student services, recruitment, admissions, financial aid, student records, registrar functions, academic advising, degree progress, orientation, student support resources, and graduation.
Enrollment representatives within Cornell’s colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University’s enrollment goals. The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising and Student Services will report to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services and work collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, Student Services, and Career Management staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of student services experience, including academic advising and admissions.
Experience administering undergraduate programs
Ability to engage with and support a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, and collaborators
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting the efforts of an overall team.
Strong motivation to make positive contributions toward the success of our students and Brooks and to provide exceptional customer service.
Ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion; maintain FERPA compliance.
Accurate, organized, and well-spoken, with experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management, diplomacy, problem-solving skills, and resilience.
Record of success as a member of a dynamic, fast-paced team
Proficiency with Microsoft applications, databases, student record systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, ImageNow, Salesforce), Itinerary Builder, and Slate. Accurate, organized, and well-spoken, with experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management, diplomacy, problem-solving skills, and resilience.
Demonstrated effective and professional communication
Professionalism, tact, excellent judgment, flexibility, and a demonstrated commitment to teamwork
Experience in successfully advising students and demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree is a related discipline.
Experience with Brooks School curricula and positive working relationships with department/field personnel are highly valued.
