Akron General’s 2400/3100 Women's Medical/Surgical and Postpartum Unit provides compassionate, safe care to every mother and baby. Our specially trained nursing staff helps welcome more than 3,000 new babies into the world every year. We believe that by continually assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care based on evidence-based practice, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills, our caregivers provide safe, quality, expert and compassionate care. In addition to our highly qualified nurses, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and anesthesiologists are also available 24/7 in our unit.
By joining the team as a Nurse Technician, you will assist the RNs, fellow Nurse Technicians, PCNAs and providers on the unit in providing the best patient care possible. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include helping with vital signs, transferring patients, baby baths, setting up rooms, performing blood draws on moms, answering call lights and cleaning instruments, just to name a few. This team is like a family and is composed of self-motivated and supportive caregivers. This role offers endless opportunities for learning and growth including getting to cross-train in the NICU and Labor and Delivery as well as potentially becoming an RN on the unit upon graduation.
A caregiver in this position works varying 4-hour shifts between 7:00AM – 11:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as checking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, performing patient transfers/transport, cleaning dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN (Registered Nurse).
Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Nursing student in good standing in an accredite
