Reporting to the Director of Education Strategic Digital Engagement, this flexible part-time hourly role focuses on developing, optimizing, and expanding the digital marketing analytics ecosystem across the Education digital team's portfolio of web, social and related digital tactics contributing to student recruitment within a higher education context.
The Senior Specialist has responsibility for developing, optimizing and overseeing digital marketing best-practices frameworks guiding all aspects of the Education Web Strategy and Services (EWSS) team’s digital portfolio of work. As an expert reader and interpreter of the intricacies of digital marketing performance measurement, the Senior Specialist will thrive upon working with colleagues to help them improve tactics, campaign measurability, and KPIs for their work. A true change agent, this role will partner with the Director and peer and junior colleagues to help the full EWSS team attain an ethos of campaign performance measurement thinking for digital campaigns that matches contemporary practices within higher education contexts in terms of complexity and outcomes.
With a continual focus on optimizing marketing performance KPIs and outcomes for EWSS staff’s individual and collective efforts, the Senior Specialist will partner regularly with the Senior Digital Content Manager, the team of Digital Content Specialists, social media team members, as well as the Digital Engagement UX Program Manager to assess, prioritize and improve performance of efforts within the Education digital production portfolio consisting of web, intranet, video, email marketing, paid digital advertising, and social media (paid and organic). An additional critical function of the Senior Specialist is overseeing on-site search, both from performance measurement and user experience optimization standpoints. Understanding ways to customize the search function to match with various audience expectations and content types, along with prioritized promoted search engine results to aid users in attaining clarity about the complex array of program offerings in the various schools is a key responsibility, along with evaluating performance metrics for the search tool.
The Senior Specialist will partner with the Director and the Senior Digital Content Manager to develop, optimize and continuously iterate upon a series of reporting dashboards to regularly assess individual and teamwide campaign performance metrics, identify campaign underperformance, benchmark predictable performance against prior periods and related campaigns, and facilitate the teamwide use of a suite of reporting metrics to provide the service line managers of a team comprised of ~25 salaried and supplemental staff with the information and skills to enable an agency-like production model.
When new tools and processes are rolled out, the Senior Specialist will facilitate and deliver teamwide, manager-level and/or individual training/coaching sessions to ensure comfort and comprehension of best-practices uses. Will partner with managers to develop individualized performance response plans and/or interventions where required.
Responsibilities:
- Digital Marketing Performance Measurement Expertise: Serve as the team's expert in digital marketing performance measurement, with a deep understanding of the higher education landscape. Guide colleagues in improving tactics, campaign measurability, and the tracking of KPIs specific to recruiting prospective students.
- Reporting and Analysis: Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to track campaign and on-site marketing performance for digital campaigns, social media, and SEO, identify areas for improvement, and benchmark against prior periods and industry best practices in higher education marketing.
- Training and Coaching: Provide training and support to teammates on best practices for utilizing performance metrics to improve campaign outcomes and KPIs, specifically tailored to the higher education context.
